  1. I think that our narrator has a very good memory; however it think that some of the details can be left out. Yes we are all grown up however it is still awkward when all a chapter is about is talking about someone’s dick… little strange. I think that they use good detail. Molly Bolt seems to be very straight forward and pushy, and kind of sick and twisted in a way. However that is just what I got from it. Her life seems to be really hard. I in a way feel bad for her. She seems to be very bull headed and stubborn, and I can see where her adoptive mother is coming from because I know I would be mad if my 7 year old did that so I got a little bit of a respect issue, however I would not have respect for someone who treats me like that either. She seems like she is a screwed up kid at this point. No offence.

  2. It seems that the narrator is a very strong character. So far, just in chapter one, it is clear that she is smart, independent and she can pretty much take care of herself if she wanted to. She doesn’t get pushed around and if she does, she doesn’t take it lightly. It struck me as a tad odd that when Carrie told her that she wasn’t her real mother, Molly didn’t have a very emotional reaction, almost like she’s known all along in some way. Maybe because she just wasn’t like anyone in her house at all, she just knew she couldn’t be related to these people. Maybe the reason she didn’t have an emotional reaction to the news of her being a ‘bastard’ is because she is such a strong character. She has a good head on her shoulders. Seeing that she is only seven years old in the first chapter, it is clear that she is wise beyond her years and perhaps maybe just a bit too mature for her age. She is almost like an adult in a young girl’s body. She knows things that most girls her age wouldn’t have a clue about. After seeing the way Carrie spoke to her when she found out what Molly had done, it’s almost like maybe Molly was forced to grow up faster, seeing that Carrie called her names mothers, or any adult, would or should call a seven year old.

  3. The narrator in the story is a very vocal person that has had experiences with vulgar language as a young child. She also has had a rough childhood finding out that she has been adopted and that her adoptive mother has treated her poorly and uses rude language in front of her. She seems like a nice person but with the way her mother treats her and the things that she does with her friends makes it seem like that Molly is a trouble maker that is going to have a rough future. Also the conversation she had with her adoptive mother was very inappropriate. I am not sure why she knows and says those kinds of things but she needs an attitude check and she needs to realize that if you talk to people like that then you will have a tough time finding friends, a job, and having the respect of others.

  4. My first impression of Molly Bolt is that she is very immature and curious. She is seven years old and basically trying to prostitute herself and her friend for money. I also realized Molly has a rough life, and background. She is from an orphanage and does not know who her real mother is. They lady that took her in is awful to her, and does not care about her. Normal, or caring parents would wait up till their seven year old got in, but Carrie doesn’t, she could care less. Since everyone knows what her mother was, she has a bad name already and that’s hard to overcome. Her mother was a stripper or a prostitute, and Carrie could care less if Molly turns out like her mother. Overall I think Molly has it rough in and out of her house, and she cant escape it till she’s old enough to get a job and get out of there.

  5. My immediate impression of the narrator is not very strong. As for the main character, Moll Bolt, she came off as a very intense character. I feel she is a very ignorant, yet strong willed individual. She makes sure she takes care of herself, even if her choices don't make sense. She comes off as a very young character with a rare maturity dealing with life’s hardships. She acts nonchalant when events against her happen, yet her temper causes her to constantly contemplate everything around her. You can say she is a "tough cookie". Her life seems to be one with a lot of negative energy. The way her mother talked to her, it seems things were never really happy and dandy in the household. Her life comes off as difficult, yet not so hard that Molly can't get through it with her head high and money on her mind.

Molly Bolt is a feisty young girl. She mouths off to her elders, has guys showing their dick for money, and acts as if she’s tougher then life. Anyone would certainty write Molly off (As her “mother” does) as a rotten little brat. Yet lets take a closer look, Molly was left at an orphanige at a fairly young age, and brought into the home of Carrie Bolt, has not bene easy. Carrie seems like the religious type, and to Carrie, Molly is a the greatest sin a woman can commit. Molly is a child born out of wedlock, and Carrie, hates Molly for what she is. Though I’m not making an excuse for Molly, she certainly shouldn’t be out having a guy show off his dick at the age of 7, it’s a bit more understandable because all Molly is really trying to do, is fit in, feel love, and most of all acceptance

  7. Molly Bolt seems like a girl that is more of a tomboy. She seems like she likes to act tough and nothing fazes her, but really she is just hurt. I think that she has a lot hidden inside of her, but doesn’t choose to show it. I think when her mom calls her a bastard and tells her that she isn’t her real mother that she is really hurt about it, but she doesn’t want her mother to see that part of her and get satisfaction about it. I think that she hasn’t had the greatest life so far and that is part of the reason she acts out. I think that it has been hard for her realizing that she looks differently from the rest of the family she lives with. My immediate impressions are that she acts older then she is and has had to grow up a lot quicker. I feel that her family has influenced the way she has grown up and her mother has definitely taken into consideration that she came from a mother who was a prostitute. I think that Molly’s adoptive mother takes it out on her and makes her life worse which is why she says and does these things.

Molly strikes me as being very independent. At first when she was talking about broccoli’s penis being ugly I thought she was joking about making a franchise out of it. Then when the story progressed and she was making a real business out of broccoli as a freak show, I realized that she knows how to support herself. Afterwards when her mother was scolding her for being a prostitute, I would have thought that she would break down and start crying. Instead she stepped back from the situation very objectively and understood that what Carrie said was unimportant. I didn’t think much of Molly’s desire to spend the night in the woods, because I know that all children have impulses similar to those after a fight with their parents. Though what I did think was impressive, was after the conflict was resolved Molly still resolved on trying to get out of her adoptive mother’s house as soon as possible.

My immediate impressions of Molly Bolt are that she has had a tough life so far. Just the way that Carrie talked to her, the language she used with her when she was only 7 and in elementary school. Molly as a character seems really harsh and too aged to be seven. Her outlook seems much different than a child of that age should be. It also seems like she doesn’t have a sense of security in the home she lives in. Even when she was out in the woods and came back in the house everyone had gone to bed and didn’t really care if she was safe at home or where she was. It also seems like she is resented in by Carrie because of where she came from and is treated badly because of it.

My impressions of Molly Bolt are that she doesn’t have a lot of structure in her life and does what she wants. She seems like a curious young girl but a little disturbed. The fact that she would go to the extreme for money makes me feel like she feels a loss of money in her life. But in the long run it seems like her life is just a mess. The woman she lives with doesn’t seem to care and I think that the way that Molly is turning out at the age of seven is a huge impact on how she is treated. The way she always tends to be the boss, and boss the other kids around makes me feel like she is use to just getting her way. When Molly gets told that she’s a bastard I think that this is hurtful but she is also a very strong girl. She brings up over and over again that she’s there so it won’t matter. But I think she’s lost in the world and has a hard time figuring out who she is. When she starts talking about what she did wrong to have her mom leave her it makes me feel like she’s a little insecure about her life to the point where she thinks everything is her fault. Molly also doesn’t stand up for herself when Carrie tells her that she heard she was in the woods. I feel like this is because she doesn’t feel like anyone will believe her when she says she didn’t. I feel like Molly is a very confused girl that maybe is going down the wrong path because there is no one there to guide her.

  11. My first impression of Molly Bolt is that she is a curious, scheming, bratty girl who forces her friend into prostituting more or less. She is definitely a tom boy, and even at the age of seven, she thinks she knows more than her adoptive mother Carrie. However, I feel bad for her because of the life she has had to grow up with, and the hatred from Carrie that she faces. The part where Carrie talks about her real mother, and Molly didn’t even know her real mother’s name is sad. I feel she is a little girl who is definitely lost in search of an identity.

I think she must have had a pretty messed up life growing up. I think she is down the wrong path at an early stage in her life. Her real mother must've been a stripper or a prostitute for Molly to be behaving like this, especially at such a young age. I feel like she's going to grow up to be something along the prostitution lines. They shouldn't care about any of this stuff yet. It's only going to get worse.

  13. The author (Molly Bolt) probably had a touch childhood based on the first chapter. She is using language that elementary school kids almost never use. She used insulting remarks towards others and I think that may be because there was someone in her life (not necessarily her parents) that was abusive towards her. Her adoptive mom was rightfully angry with her because Molly was modeling inappropriate behavior. This is a seven year old kid who called somebody’s mom a slut. The majority of seven year olds don’t know what a slut is. The fact that she is so young makes me think that someone was extremely tough on her in the early stages of her life, and now she takes out some frustration on other kids. Although I could be wrong, this was my first impression after the first chapter. I think that for a seven year old to act the way Molly did, somebody must have influenced her to be the way she is.
